Slings Inspection, Care and Storage
We are, all of us, familiar with the huge lifting equipment used within industrial plants to move heavy machinery, fabricated units, containers, etc, on the wharves where portable lifts and cranes unload cargo, or on construction sites where the cranes dominate our skyline through to completion of the project.
These and other permanent and portable lifting equipment are subject to rigid and detailed inspections and maintenance programs to ensure their on-going working performance and safety.
This video program is not concerned with this equipment so much as the slings and ancillary gear which is used in conjunction with the main lifting equipment.
About the course:
The Slings Inspection, Care and Storage program looks at a range of lifting equipment and the fundamental principles that should be followed to prevent accidents.
The program looks at all the general do’s and don’ts when using slings and highlights the importance of the pre-use checks and what all operators should look for when selecting the appropriate sling for a given task.
The program concentrates on chain slings, wire slings and fibre slings and covers the following issues:
- Pre-use Checks
- Care of Equipment whilst in use
- Planned Periodic Inspections
- Storage of Equipment
Who it’s for:
Whether slings are used on a regular or irregular basis in your work area, the basic safety principles outlined in this video should be followed constantly to ensure the safety of the persons working with the equipment and those others who may be within the area.
